Rotary believes in developing the next generation of leaders. Our programs help younger leaders build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of service.
RYPEN
Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment
For ages 14-16, year 9 or 10.
Location: Teen Ranch 352 Cobbity NSW.
1-3 May and 2-30 August 2026.
A wonderful opportunity for students aged 14-16 years!
RYPEN is a Friday night to Sunday lunch youth development course for young people aged 14 to 16 years, and caters for teenagers who have shown qualities and application in everyday life which deserve further development.
RYPEN uses the common bonds of learning, co-operation, and friendship to design activities which facilitate trust and self-esteem. RYPEN seeks to broaden each participant’s horizons culturally, socially, and academically, providing the inner foundations for a strong future.
All applicants will be interviewed by members of our Club, and if selected, each student will present a report on their experiences to Rotary Club of Sutherland at one of our Tuesday evening meetings.

RYLA
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
For ages 19 to 25 years old.
Registration opens June, closes when full.
Held Sunday 18th – Friday 23rd January 2026.
2027 dates are yet to be advised.
The program typically has 45 participants and focuses on leadership, personal development, teamwork, and community awareness. RYLA features presentations from many experts who generously donate their time and experience to further the development of young leaders.
The program combines workshops and presentations to fully explore the fundamentals of effective leadership. All attendees live, eat and sleep on site.
Cost: $950.

NYSF
The National Youth Science Forum
For year 11 students about to start year 12.
Held 6-14th January 2026 at the ANU in Canberra and13-21 January at UQ in Brisbane.
2027 dates are yet to be advised.
Ideal for young people with a passion for science.
Cost: $3,065 plus $70 application fee.

The Science Experience
For year 9 and 10 students.
Apply early in the year as spaces are limited.
Macquarie University, 30 Sept - 2 Oct 2026.
Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.
Cost: 1 day program $90, 3 day program $250.
Rotary Subsidy: $90 or $250

An event jointly presented by Cochlear and Engineers Australia.
A four Day Engineering program – visiting four Universities & 4 Engineering projects / organisations.

The National Science and Engineering Challenge
For year 9 and 10 students.
Lucas Heights 28-29 May 2026.
A fun, hands-on STEM competition where students compete against other schools in activities like building towers, bridges, or hovercrafts.
