Car Boot Sale - Great Progress!
Preparation for the Car Boot Sale we're holding on 9 November has been coming along nicely. We have now exceeded 25 sellers (great effort for a first time event!) and more are coming in each day. Our signage and advertising is out there, and the planning is well under way. Great effort everyone!

RYPEN - Talk from Participants
This month, we were lucky enough to have a talk from our RYPEN participants about their experience in this valuable program. They loved that it taught them skills of resilience and reframing, where problems are not in need of immediate solutions, but effort towards solutions. It was clearly a great tool for them to start thinking about personal growth.
Thank you David Morton for the hard work you do in putting these programs together, they are truly valuable!
Guest Speaker - Jo Ryan of 2SSR On 23 September 2025, our guest speaker Jo Ryan came along and told us about her work in Community Radio for 2SSR (99.7FM if you're in the Shire).
In a truly informative speech, we found out that her path to radio was not direct, but rather one founded in community business experience that included establishing and chairing the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber, running Infodec - a communications business that led for-purpose organisations to greater success through marketing and communications, grant applications and more. More importantly, though, Jo reminded us that volunteering and purpose-led work is not just about individual effort, but collaboration, sharing skills, combining knowledge and displaying leadership with the aim of uplifting everyone together.
On top of all her other endeavours, she's now running her successful weekly radio program Enterprise, so we were truly grateful to have her along!

Rotary Club of Caringbah's Mental Health and Wellbeing Expo
The Rotary Club of Caringbah's Mental Health and Wellbeing Expo is an effort to raise awareness of mental health services and struggles within the community. With an information booth set up at Miranda Westfields, as well as a the actual expo itself on 16 October 2025 at the Pavilion Arts Centre, Sutherland (formerly the Sutherland Entertainment Centre) this is a worthwhile initiative and well worth the support of those who can attend!
Membership Drive - Bunnings Kirrawee Our membership awareness table at Bunnings Kirrawee was a small success, incidentally raising over $50 and promoting community interest in some of our club's projects. With a few nibbles, there's a chance that we may have encouraged a couple of people to think Rotary when they next want to be a Person of Action!

Car Boot Sale: 9 November 2025
The first Rotary Club of Sutherland Car Boot Sale is scheduled for 9 November 2025 and the preparation is really ramping up. This is a new endeavour for the club, so all support available is requested!
A reminder - all money that we raise is going to Project Youth, who assist youth in crisis with in the Sutherland Shire. It's a great cause and well worth participating!
We are still after people to assist on the day, so if you feel like helping out a great cause, getting some sun and participating in a fantastic community event, let us know - you don't have to be a Rotarian as anyone willing to help out is a Friend.

Social Night - Monkey Thai 14 October 2025
We're having a club Social Night!
In case you've missed John Barker's text message, please get back to him ASAP if you wish to attend. Monkey Thai is a fantastic restaurant and also has a bar if you'd like a cheeky cocktail after.
The bookstall has been cancelled on this date and has been removed from the calendar.
This is a one-off change at this time. Future events remain on track and the club will notify everyone if anything changes.

At events, please take photos of our members doing things! While we love the teamwork and camaraderie, photos of us smiling at a camera are not as impactful as photos of us engaging with the community or getting our hands dirty.

Fresh Australian tiger prawns will be available for pick up at Woolooware Shores.One of our residents owns a seafood company and has agreed to supply the prawns at cost price!
Price: $30 / kilo.
Retail is $40!
